Digital Designer - UX/UI

London EC1R 5BL - Full-time, Permanent

Hello from Cappfinity! We’re a small Technology company of about 120 brilliant people headquartered in the UK. Established since 2006, now with offices also in the USA, Ireland and Australia, our business is at a solid stage of its growth. We don’t have the chaos and uncertainty of a start-up, nor the rigid hierarchies of larger corporations – it’s a great place to work where people and creativity flourish. We are looking to recruit a Designer who will focus primarily on User Experience and Interface Design across our entire suite of award-winning software products.

The ideal candidate may have a generalist background in Graphic / Digital Design but probably with a particular affinity and interest in crafting delightful and robust User Experiences and Interfaces which result in a positive and effective User Journey. The role is broader than purely UX/UI so we’re ideally looking for an individual with a complimentary set of multidisciplinary skills and experience.

What Cappfinity as a whole does is to help its clients identify and capitalise on the unique strengths of individuals. We help clients uncover and understand which particular human strengths are most crucial in driving success specifically within their organisation. From this and using our software platform, we create engaging, immersive assessment experiences which allow our clients to identify and primarily hire people into their businesses who possess those strengths crucial to their success.

So, we need another Designer...

With a focus on Design-led Product Development, we’re looking for a highly motivated, adaptable and capable Digital Designer who will primarily focus on User Experience and Interface Design.

Cappfinity initially worked with clients in a more consultative approach, however over the last few years we have been adapting to become a SaaS (Software as a Service) provider. We now have a range of internal, client and candidate-facing Software Products, Tools, Modules and Features each at different stages of maturity. We’re looking for somebody to take a lead role in continuing to develop and refine these as well as creating new ones from scratch. You will be required to liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including our Engineers, Assessment Consultants, Board of Directors and Client Users.

As a team, we strive to create Product experiences which are both robust and delightful for our clients and their end-users alike, so we’re looking for somebody who can research and empathise with the goals of our users and produce designs accordingly. There is an opportunity here to help us re-examine our design process from beginning to end to evaluate what works and what doesn’t – so from research through prototyping, testing and iteration if you can help us improve and implement the industry best practices, we’ll be glad to hear from you!

Whilst UX and UI will be the primary focus for this role there is also likely to be the requirement for content design for both live and prospective client projects using our platform, so you need to be happy working to brand guidelines, taking art direction as necessary and working as part of client delivery teams in order to impress our clients. If you have experience creating rich multimedia content including video, audio and animation to a high standard that would be great.

On the ‘spectrum of Digital Design’ this role sits very much at the ‘Visual / Graphic end’ – there is no expectation for coding, however a solid understanding and interest in the capabilities and limitations of relevant industry technologies would be advantageous.

We will support you in your career development and in return expect you to support us to build and enhance the department and service we offer to the rest of the business as it continues to grow and evolve.

We are looking for:

  • • Fluent spoken and written English
  • • Relevant Design qualification or equivalent experience
  • • Probably somewhere in the region of 5-10 years relevant industry experience
  • • Strong portfolio of relevant work clearly demonstrating Design / Creative capabilities and explaining involvement in each project
  • • Ability to create, maintain and develop design systems
  • • Excellent eye for detail, layout, colour, image and typography
  • • Expert Adobe Creative Cloud user (Figma would be great too)
  • • Innate curiosity and desire to learn; someone who questions the status-quo
  • • Keen general interest in Technology, Innovation and User Experience
  • • Good general understanding and interest in the capabilities, opportunities and limitations of the current industry-standard range of web and mobile technologies
  • • Excellent project management skills – able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure, ideally with experience working with Scrum / Agile
  • • Exceptional communication skills – our projects can be complex, often starting out quite abstract, so the ability and confidence to grapple with such information is a necessity
  • • Empathy for people – experience creating user personas, journeys, wireframes and prototypes to inform an effective and positive final experience / design

Advantageous (but not essential):

  • • Experience conducting ideation and product discovery workshops
  • • Experience conducting user testing, A/B testing and validation
  • • Animation / Motion Graphics / Videography skills
